(WHAM) - A mail carrier in Rochester was honored in a special ceremony Thursday morning for taking action that likely helped to save the life of a Rochester Police officer last fall.

Ramique Hill was out delivering mail on Peck Street as part of his route on the morning of October 4, 2019. During those deliveries, he was nearby when Officer Denny Wright was attacked by Keith Williams as he responded to a domestic call at a home on the street. Wright was blinded in the attack, suffering stab wounds to the left eye, face and lower body.

Hill ran toward the house, along with fellow bystanders Matt Ochs and Lydell Weatherspoon, and helped Wright until EMS and paramedics arrived on scene.
