Rochester Police Locust Club - Survey

Monday, October 19, 2015 - 5:30pm

The members of the Rochester Police Locust Club fully understand that there are many factors that contribute to the alarming level of violence and crime in our city. We are particularly concerned about the senseless murders that were committed over the past six months. Poverty, drugs, illegal gang activity and mental health issues are obviously some of the major problems involved. We support any and all efforts the community makes to deal with these complicated and difficult issues.

As law enforcement professionals, however, it is our primary responsibility to deal with the impact that those issues have on public safety every single day in the city of Rochester. The men and women of the Rochester Police Department take our jobs and our oath of service very seriously. We are public servants and we are sworn to protect the citizens of this community. That is why we believe that we have a moral and professional obligation to advise and alert our community if conditions exist that compromise our ability to do our jobs effectively.

To insure that our report to the community accurately represents the professional opinions of our entire membership, we contracted with a highly-regarded, local research firm – BRX Global Research – to do a survey of our membership. Using an expert, outside organization to conduct this survey allowed the members to provide responses confidentially and with identity protection.
