8 States for Maz

Officer Anthony “Maz” Mazurkiewicz of the Rochester Police Department was murdered in the line of duty on July 21st, 2022. At the time of his death, he was assigned to the elite Tactical Unit that has the number designator of “8”. Maz is survived by his wife Lynn, 4 children, 3 grandchildren, his parents, a sister and brother. He served 29 years with the RPD and was looking forward to his retirement.

Rochester, N.Y. (WHAM) - Several officers in the Rochester area shaved their beards Monday as part of an effort to raise money for cancer research.

Thirteen law enforcement agencies took part in the beard-growing fundraiser. The organizations donated money to allow officers and deputies to grow a beard for a month, then shave it.

The effort is a month-long initiative with 13thirty Cancer Connect, an organization that supports teens and young adults fighting cancer.

Rochester, N.Y. – City union leaders are firing back after they say the city’s labor relations manager was wrongly terminated.

Union leaders say the city isn’t playing ball when it comes to labor decisions and fear more cuts are on the way.

This comes ahead of a crucial Supreme Court decision which could give union workers access to bargaining deals without paying dues.

Union heads say the recent removal of the labor relations manager is a trend the city will continue to attack its union employees.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Two Gilchrist County sheriff’s deputies gunned down as they ate lunch last week will be laid to rest Tuesday.

The Rochester Police Locust Club is proud to announce their 5th annual college scholarship application process with scholarships to be awarded to four applicants in the amount of $1,500 each. Each award will be used for tuition and/or college-related expenses ($750 per semester) for an incoming freshman attending a two-year community college and/or a four-year college or university. The Rochester Police Locust Club Scholarship Committee will pay the award for each semester directly to the scholarship winner for his/her tuition or college-related expenses.
